Magnolia Down Under Challenge #165 {White on White} - Winner and Top 5

Well I have to say I was rapt when this challenge fell on my week. I've always loved the look of white on white - the textures and the pop of colour from the image work so well together to create an amazing effect. My fellow DT examples and your gorgeous entries certainly did nothing to change my mind about the fabulous results of white on white. Unfortunately with so many gorgeous entries it made voting very tight indeed but we do have a winner and this week we'd like to congratulate.......

Minna {31}

Minna has created some fabulous textures on her card with textiles, corrugated card, die cuts and paint. Her fabulous colouring of Santa is the perfect match with the white pen highlights. I love the snowy feel surrounding Santa and the warm glow from his lantern. If you want to see more of Minna's gorgeous work you can check out her blog HERE.

Minna can you please contact us at magnoliadownunder@gmail.com to claim your winner's badge and prize

We also have another amazing Top 5 - and these spots were hotly contested this week - we could easily have had TEN entries listed here but we did manage to keep it down - just! These entries are listed in numerical order and we would like to congratulate...

The Top 5 picks are are linked back to the original entries to make it easier for you guys to go and check them out. Please grab our gorgeous Top 5 badge from the sidebar and display it proudly on your blog to let everyone know how fabulous we think your work is!

And remember to pop back in a few hours to check out our new challenge and the always amazing inspiration from the fabulous MDUC DT, and hopefully you'll want to play along too.

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #165 White on White

Good morning Magnolia Fans!

Welcome back to our next challenge.
We are very proud to be sponsored this week by:
Mother and daughter Mary and Andrea have always crafted and found it was becoming more and more difficult to buy very small quantities of good quality ribbon, lace and buttons and embellishments at reasonable prices. We resented having to purchase a full roll when we only needed one metre. We love ribbons, lace and all things pretty and sparkly, so in 2010 we decided to open our own online store and make small or large quantities easily available to all crafters. Mary owns the shop and runs it on a day to day basis while Andrea looks after the Ribbon Girl Blog and Design Team. We only stock best quality products and offer products which we would personally buy and use ourselves.  We supply traditional, modern and vintage style ribbon, lace, twine, seam binding, fancy pins, tiny pom-pom and ric-rac trim, plain, striped, polka dot and sparkly buttons, narrow tuille, net and mesh fabric. We stock a huge range of charms, diamante spacers, gems, buckle slides, pearl and crystal flourishes, hearts, gems etc. We also offer a useful range of mulberry flowers, liquid pearls, glossy accents, glitter glue, sticky tape, wool felt squares, plus many other unusual and seasonal accessories and embellishments to card makers, stitchers, crafters, scrapbookers and cake decorators. We're happy to send small samples of ribbon, lace and twine are available upon request and if you are planning a wedding or other special occasion we may be able to offer special prices for larger quantities.

The Ribbon Girls are generously giving away this beautiful prize this week:

This week, the challenge is:
White on White
(Use ONLY white to create you card.  Use colour only on your image)

It was a bit of a challenge for us too! Let me assure you, but the results are stunning!! Lets check out the creations by the DT:

Magnolia Down Under Challenge #164 Pop Up Card

Welcome back to another fun filled week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges.
We have a really great challenge for you this week together with a brilliant tutorial by our talented and lovely  Camilla S.

But first, we have a DT announcement.
A few weeks ago, we were faced with the very sad news that Eulanda had decided to say good bye to us here at MDUC. Eulanda will always be one of the MDUC family and it is terribly sad to see her go. She is an amazing girl, full of fun and very much loved by us all.
Thank you so much Eulanda for being a part of our DT. You gave us so much more than creative inspiration.

But every cloud has a silver lining.
There was only one thing we could do to cheer ourselves up here at MDUC - we needed to add a new member to our DT family.
We are over the moon to welcome Camilla H as our newest DT member.
I am sure Camilla needs no introduction, her stunning entries here week after week either winning or coming in our Top 5. Her elegant creations always blowing us away.  She is as talented as she is a darling of the craft world.
A big welcome from all of us Camilla.

And now... down to business!!
Our brilliant sponsor this week is....

This week Tilda's Town is offering a lucky winner a $15 Gift Certificate! With a new collection to be released very soon, I can imagine someone is going to be very happy with this prize! Thank you so much Tilda's Town

Now, lets hand it over to Camilla to introduce the challenge for this week.

Hi there!
This week we have a "real" challenge for you!

It is time for pop-up cards.

I, Camilla, will now show you how I made my pop-up card for this challenge.
(There have been made many tutorials before of how to make a pop-up card, so I am not the first).
First I start with decorating the card inside. For this card I wanted to make an Australian scene:)
If you look really closely you can see the Blue Mountains in the back, and also the typical Australian red sand on the roads;)
Now we only need some Aussie girls!
The stamps I have used:
Tilda with her Kookaburra (Australia Collection 2012)
Kangaroo Tilda (Australia Collection 2012)
Tilda with UGG shoes (Australia Collection 2012)
Waterfall Background (Tilda & Edwin's Pet/Animal Collection 2009)
♥♥♥
I have also cut out some paper strips. They measures from 8mm-1cm wide.
And two of them are folded like this: 3cm, 3,5 cm, 3 cm, 3,5 cm and a small piece of paper left to glue it all together. I will show you how under. For the Tilda with UGG shoes who will stand abit further out than the two others, I have folded her paper strip like this: 3 cm, 5 cm, 3 cm, 5 cm + a bit extra to glue it all together.
Here you can see that I put some glue on to the extra bit of paper.
And put the paper strips together like this.
Here are all three fasten.
Then I want to fasten the paper on to Tilda. I add the glue to the paper like you see over.
And puts it gently on Tilda like this.

Now I want to fasten Tilda in to the card. And I have to put glue on to the two sides of the paper that will be fasten inside the card.
Like this.
Then I continue and do the same with the other Tildas.
I will show you how it looks from different angles under.

And here they are, put right into the beautiful Australian nature:)
I hope that my explanation was easy to understand.
And that you are inspired to give it a try!

Thank you so much Camilla for a brilliant tutorial!!

Some of the DT had a go at these during the week and we all agree, they are worth the little extra time as we all had fabulous results.
If you would like to try a pop up card slightly different to Camilla's, there will be some links at the end of the post for you to check out..

Now, lets check out these amazing Pop Up Cards!!
